The Science Behind Gray Labs
We don’t run our own trials.
We show you the ones that matter.
Every active ingredient in the Gray Labs system has been evaluated in peer-reviewed, published research. Below is the full index — studies linked, dosages explained, nothing hidden.
01 · Our Philosophy
Ingredient-first.
Honest by design.
“The supplement is the accelerant, not the shortcut. The science tells you what your body needs — the lifestyle is what makes it work.”
Gray Labs does not claim to have conducted its own randomised controlled trials. We formulate around ingredients that already have extensive published evidence — the same approach used by the most credible brands in the longevity category. We cite the studies. We show the dosages. We let the research speak.
One thing we will never do: present category-level ingredient science as evidence specific to Gray Labs products. “NMN has been studied in 200+ published papers” is honest. “Gray Labs Male+ is clinically proven” would not be — and we will not say it.
Dosage Matters
We publish the doses in our formulas. An ingredient at 50mg is not the same as one at 300mg. Hiding dosages is how brands practice clinical dusting — inclusion without effect.
Mechanism Over Promise
We describe what each ingredient does at the cellular level — not how you will feel. How you feel is the outcome of a thousand variables. The mechanism is what the evidence supports.
Lifestyle Is Part of the Formula
The studies behind these ingredients often involved subjects who also exercised and ate well. Per FTC guidance, we disclose that. The supplement works best alongside the life it supports.
02 · The Ingredient Index
Three products.
Every ingredient explained.
Each table lists the active ingredient, its cellular mechanism, what the published research actually supports, and direct links to the peer-reviewed studies. Citations go to PubMed or published journal DOIs — not blog posts or marketing pages.

The cellular energy foundation of the Gray Labs system. NAD+ is the coenzyme required for mitochondrial function, DNA repair, and sirtuin activation. By age 50, NAD+ levels have declined approximately 50% from peak. Core NAD+ supports the cellular processes that underpin energy, focus, and resilience — without making claims beyond what the published evidence supports.

| Ingredient | Mechanism | What the research supports | Key studies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nicotinamide Riboside | NAD+ precursor. Supports healthy NAD+ levels in blood and tissues. | Oral NR supplementation has been shown to increase whole-blood NAD+ metabolites in healthy adults. Human RCTs demonstrate measurable biomarker changes at doses of 250–500mg. | |
| Resveratrol (trans-)Standardised extract | SIRT1 activator. Supports healthy cardiovascular function and cellular longevity pathways. | Trans-resveratrol has been studied for its role in sirtuin activation — proteins involved in cellular regulation and longevity pathways. Human trials at 150–500mg show measurable effects on metabolic and cardiovascular biomarkers alongside a healthy lifestyle. | |
| Vitamin D350 mcg (2,000 IU) · Cholecalciferol | Essential cofactor for NAD+ metabolism. Supports calcium absorption, immune resilience, and cellular energy conversion. | Our approach is a game-changer in NAD+ metabolism. Most companies skip it — we don’t. Without Vitamin D, NR conversion is less effective. We include it to maximise absorption, boost resilience, and power real results. Vitamin D3 deficiency is widespread in adults over 40 and directly impacts cellular energy pathways. |
Designed to support healthy testosterone levels, muscle recovery, and the hormonal foundations that matter after 40. Male+ is formulated to work alongside regular physical activity — the research behind several of these ingredients was conducted in subjects who trained consistently, and we disclose that. The supplement supports the work; it does not replace it.

| Ingredient | Mechanism | What the research supports | Key studies |
|---|---|---|---|
| KSM-66 AshwagandhaFull-spectrum root extract · highest-concentration form | Supports healthy testosterone levels and cortisol regulation in adult men. | KSM-66 has been evaluated in double-blind, placebo-controlled trials for its effects on serum testosterone, cortisol, and body composition in resistance-trained men. Results support maintaining healthy hormone levels within the normal range — not for clinical testosterone deficiency. | |
| Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma longifolia)Standardised extract | Supports free testosterone and healthy male vitality. | Tongkat Ali has been studied for its effects on free testosterone levels, stress hormone regulation, and physical performance in adult men. Human trials indicate support for healthy testosterone within normal physiological ranges. Not a treatment for hypogonadism. | |
| Fenugreek ExtractStandardised for furostanolic saponins | Supports healthy hormone balance and male vitality. | Fenugreek has been evaluated in RCTs for its effects on testosterone levels and sexual health markers in adult men. Results suggest support for healthy hormone balance alongside resistance training — studies note the training component as a co-factor. | |
| DHEADehydroepiandrosterone | Adrenal hormone precursor. Supports healthy testosterone synthesis in older adults. | DHEA declines significantly with age. Supplementation has been studied for effects on body composition, energy, and hormone levels in older men. Human research supports its role as a precursor in healthy testosterone and oestrogen metabolism — not as a hormone replacement. | |
| ZincZinc gluconate · high bioavailability form | Essential cofactor for testosterone synthesis and immune function. | Zinc is a well-established essential mineral with a documented role in testosterone synthesis and immune regulation. Deficiency is associated with reduced testosterone. Supplementation in zinc-deficient adults supports healthy levels within the normal range. |
Most longevity research was conducted on men. Female+ is formulated for the specific physiological changes that occur in women after 40 — accelerated bone density changes, metabolic shifts, and the hormonal transitions of perimenopause and beyond. This is not men’s longevity repackaged. It is a different formula for a different biology. Best results are seen alongside weight-bearing exercise, adequate protein, and vitamin D.

| Ingredient | Mechanism | What the research supports | Key studies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Calcium (as Calcium Citrate)High-absorption form · cofactor for bone mineralisation | Supports healthy bone density and calcium metabolism. | Calcium citrate has higher bioavailability than calcium carbonate, particularly in women with lower gastric acid. Research supports its role in maintaining healthy bone mineral density alongside vitamin D and weight-bearing activity. | |
| Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol)D3 form · superior to D2 for serum 25(OH)D | Essential cofactor for calcium absorption and bone mineralisation. Supports immune function. | Vitamin D3 deficiency is widespread among women over 40 and associated with reduced bone mineral density. Supplementation supports calcium absorption and helps maintain healthy bone structure. Well-established in evidence at 1,000–4,000 IU. | |
| Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus)Standardised root extract | Adaptogen supporting hormonal balance and cortisol regulation during hormonal transition. | Shatavari is a classical adaptogen studied for its effects on hormonal health in women, including FSH levels and menopausal symptom management. Research supports its role in promoting hormonal balance — not as an oestrogen replacement or treatment for menopause. | |
| Magnesium (as Magnesium Glycinate)Glycinate form · high bioavailability and tolerability | Supports metabolic function, bone matrix integrity, and healthy stress response. | Magnesium plays a role in over 300 enzymatic reactions including bone mineralisation, glucose metabolism, and cortisol regulation. Deficiency is common in women over 40. Glycinate form has strong bioavailability evidence compared to oxide forms. |

03 · Manufacturing & Quality
Made to pharmaceutical standards.
The FDA does not “approve” dietary supplements — any brand that claims FDA approval is either confused or misleading. The correct standard is cGMP: the same quality protocols used by pharmaceutical manufacturers. Every Gray Labs product is made in an FDA-registered, cGMP-compliant facility in the United States.
FDA-Registered Facility
Manufactured in a facility registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, compliant with 21 CFR Part 111 — the cGMP rule for dietary supplements.
cGMP Compliant
Current Good Manufacturing Practice governs every stage: raw material testing, in-process controls, finished-product testing, and full batch record documentation.
Made in the United States
Formulated, manufactured, and fulfilled from the U.S. Domestic production means tighter supply chain oversight and faster quality intervention.
Third-Party Testing
Products are tested for label accuracy, contaminants, and microbiological safety. NSF Certified for Sport certification is in progress.
04 · Frequently Asked
Questions worth asking.
Transparency is part of the product. If you have a question the FAQ doesn’t answer, email us at support@graylaboratories.com and we’ll respond within one business day.
Why don’t you run your own clinical trials?
Because the ingredients inside our formulas already have extensive published human research — conducted by independent academic institutions with no commercial interest in the outcome. Commissioning our own trials would cost $500K–$2M per product and take 2–4 years. We chose to formulate around what the science already knows, cite the sources, and let you decide. If and when we conduct our own trials, we will publish them in full — including results we don’t like.
What does “clinically-studied ingredient” actually mean?
It means the ingredient — not the finished Gray Labs product — has been evaluated in controlled human trials published in peer-reviewed journals. We cite those trials directly on this page. “Clinically-studied ingredient” is accurate. “Clinically proven product” would not be — and we will not claim it.
How do you choose dosages?
We formulate at doses consistent with the ranges used in published human trials — not at “clinical dusting” levels that allow ingredient inclusion on the label without meaningful effect. Full dosage information is on the product label and each product page.
Is NAD+ supplementation safe long-term?
Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) has been studied in human trials up to 12 months with no significant adverse events at standard doses, with 40+ human clinical trials on record. As with any supplement, individual response varies. If you are on prescription medication or managing a chronic condition, consult your physician before use.
When will I notice a difference?
Cellular change is not the same as felt change. NAD+ biomarker levels respond within weeks of consistent supplementation — but the downstream effects compound over 60–90 days. This is why we offer a 90-day guarantee rather than 30. Most customers notice the full benefit after 8–12 weeks of consistent use alongside regular movement and good sleep.
Is Female+ safe to take alongside HRT?
Female+ contains herbal adaptogens and micronutrients, not hormones. The ingredients are not known to interact with standard HRT protocols, but individual circumstances vary. If you are on hormone replacement therapy or any prescription medication, please consult your physician or pharmacist before adding Female+ to your regimen.
